Trinidad & Tobago team kit

They may have been the last team to book their place in Germany, but Trinidad & Tobago are more than capable of ruffling a few feathers at next summer's showpiece tournament. Qualification means that coach Beenhakker will be assured mythical status among the fans, and also give the country's best ever player, Dwight Yorke, the chance to grace one FIFA World Cup finals before he retires. A UEFA Champions League winner in his time at Manchester United, Yorke is not someone who is prepared to go down without a fight. The same can be said of powerful forward Stern John and the immensely talented Russell Latapy, whose return to the side at 37 coincided with the team's upturn in form. Given the abundance of talent at their disposal, any team that dares to underestimate the Soca Warriors could be in for a rather rude awakening.

The Soca Warriors will probably be the favourite team of the neutrals in Germany and those watching on television but the team, led by canny Dutchman Leo Beenhakker will want to show that are more than stereotypical happy-go-lucky Caribbeans and are aiming high.

Many of the players are well known in England and Europe. Veteran striker Dwight Yorke needs no introduction but the former Manchester United star has produced little on the pitch in the past five years. Fans will be hoping that he has enough left for a last swansong on the global stage.

There is some experience in the team to support the 34-year-old. Stern John, Mark Burchill and Dennis Lawrence are all seasoned professionals who will relish their time in the spotlight. Russell Lapaty must also be mentioned, the playmaker may be 37 but still has the talent to unlock the tightest defence.
